The 15th of September 2022, the representative of AGRICOLA S.A., the Joint Venture sited in Nicaragua of PROTEO INTERNATIONAL S.r.l., presented the results of a trial at the XII Congress Tecnicaña – 2022, the International Congress on sugar cane in Cali, Colombia.
An abstract of a trial conducted in Central America by AGRICOLA under the supervision of the technical office of the headquarters of PROTEO, was then presented at the Scientific Commission of the Congress in the spring of 2022. The document was accepted to be presented as a poster during one of the dedicated sessions.

The poster was titled “Ripening in sugarcane through the use of a special mineral fertilizer containing phosphorus, potassium, and molybdenum in a specific balance” (original title “Maduración en caña de azúcar a través del uso de un fertilizante mineral especial conteniente fósforo, potasio y molibdeno en equilibrio específico).

Six weeks before the expected harvest, FOLIPLUS was applied to promote the concentration of sugar and reduce the severity of the stress resulting from this process of accumulation. The results demonstrated that the product, activating natural physiological pathways, promoted the increase of the °Brix and an highest yield of sugar cane compared to the control. At the same time, a reduction of the number of dead plants because of the lower stress due to the gentle sugar accumulation process (which resulted in fewer plants to be replaced for the beginning of the new season) was observed.

The application of FOLIPLUS was effective not only under a technical point of view, but also from an economic evaluation.
